Abstract

Adolescents in Lima Puluh Kota Regency, Indonesia, face growing exposure to two forms of addictive risk: substance misuse and digital addiction, particularly online gambling and excessive online gaming. School counselors stand at the front line of prevention, yet preventive efforts in the region have largely been limited to incidental socialization without structured and reusable intervention media. This community service program aimed to strengthen the capacity of school counselors through the Smart-Choice Phygital Counseling model, a Training of Trainers approach that integrates physical media (gamified emotion-regulation flip cards), digital content (QR-based microlearning), and the Potensia.id online counseling platform oriented toward Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. The program was carried out in partnership with the Education and Culture Office of Lima Puluh Kota Regency and the local school counselor association (MGBK), targeting counselors from 49 junior and senior secondary schools. Implementation followed five stages: socialization, training, technology application, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. The program delivered a ready-to-use phygital counseling package, an implementation guide, an early screening instrument, and a collaborative network linking the university, the local government, and MGBK. Because it combines physical and digital media, the model allows counselors in schools with uneven digital infrastructure to deliver addiction prevention services that are interactive, reflective, and replicable.
